KEVIN ANDREW
As a Lifelong Creative, I followed the right path for many years before questioning it. After obtaining undergraduate and graduate degrees in Civil Engineering, years working in IT Corporate America, and a successful Entrepreneur Business Exit, I now paint abstract artwork full time with intention and a business mindset.
Creating art is a journey to find my self.
SHELA ANMUTH
There is magic in abstract art. Many of us respond emotionally……we can experience mystery, subtlety, and perhaps even long forgotten memories. Not only for the viewer, but also for the artist. I work in a few different mediums and images. Mostly cold wax medium and oil, acrylic and mixed media, usually abstractly (although, a representative piece pops up now and then). The intention is always toward good composition, value and interesting color and texture of course, but the best work always comes out of spontaneity: the spirit of play, and the gift of the eternal now. You know…..magic!
HEATHER CLEMENTS
Heather Clements combines realistic portraiture, expressive abstraction, and elements of flora and fauna to represent a symbiotic relationship with nature and an ever-evolving dive into the human psyche. After growing up in Northern Virginia, she earned her BFA in painting from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2007. She began her art career in Panama City, Florida, where she owned an art gallery and alternative venue space for 2 years.
After a short stint as curator of the Visual Arts Center of Northwest Florida, Heather decided to dive fully into being a full time artist, through paintings, drawings, murals, and teaching. A 2-time major hurricane survivor, Heather uses art as a means for therapy and growth. Now residing in nature in Asheville, North Carolina, Heather is embracing creating the art her inner-most weirdo yearns to make. She has expanded into creating interactive art, through her new book “Pull Me Apart” with pull-tabs, spin wheels, and more, and numerous interactive murals.
BRIDGET BENTON
Bridget Benton is an Asheville, NC-based collage artist layering her own photography, nature prints, found ephemera, and expressive mark-making in encaustic. Encaustic is a luminous, natural medium made from filtered beeswax, tree resin, and pigments (not a skin condition). She describes her work as an attempt to capture not a moment in time, but the impact of that moment — a way of mapping an internal landscape.
A passionate educator and lifelong learner, Bridget has spent 20+ years helping adults find their OWN creative voice rather than mimicking hers. Her master's degree in the study of the creative process informs everything she does. Her award-winning book, The Creative Conversation: ArtMaking as Playful Prayer, came out of that study, and is a workshop-in-a-book about getting out of your own way so you can make more art. She has served in leadership roles with the Nature Printing Society and International Encaustic Artists.
Bridget's love of travel has made her creative journey a genuinely global one — with photos taken everywhere from the Himalayas to the jungles of Angkor Wat, work shown in galleries from Portland to Ireland, and collections held from Canada to Australia. With over 100 workshops to her name, she brings her teaching to students around the world, with upcoming sessions in Italy and Ireland alongside ongoing classes in the Asheville area.
