I consciously leveraged older techniques and strategies while mixing in new ideas into this painting. Inspired from a beautifully complicated sunrise in Asheville, NC. I am constantly trying to grow my practice and improve in my craft. It’s a balance of mixing old techniques and strategies with the new.
Sometimes I settle in with an old familiar feel when it’s not completely me anymore. There is a new battle within me to keep who I am while pushing forward into the fearful unknown of creation. If I’m not scared when I’m creating, it usually means I’m dulling my creative spirit and output. This painting was an absolute battle for me, but I love it.
